The official inauguration of the Katzenberg Tunnel in South Germany took place today.

The 1.7 km long Ter Doest Curve has since 5 November 2012 ensured a more consistent and uninterrupted circulation of freight traffic in the Port of Zeebrugge. Thanks to this new infrastructure, the capacity of traffic on the rail network has been increased.

On 14 November, the Gotthard line had to be closed for a second time within five months due to another rock slide near Gurtnellen in Switzerland.

ProRail is cooperating with the Port of Rotterdam on the realisation of the project “Maasvlakte 2”.

On 22 October 2012, the second bridge over the river Rhine near Basel/Switzerland was officially inaugurated.

Two ETCS balises were ceremonially installed at Airolo on the Gotthard line on Friday 13, marking the start of a five-and-a-half year programme to install balises at 11,000 locations covering the entire Swiss mainline network.
